We want to document the rich history of the global electronic access control industry. In 2019, Lee Odess, with the help of his father, David, started digging a little into the history by asking," Where and why did electronic access control start?" Through introductions, Lee and David began talking to many individuals who pioneered this industry. They found a fantastic industry with exciting and globally unique tales, happenstances, notable individuals of all race, nationalities, sex, and orientation, and team stories of perseverance, innovation, and spirit. Unfortunately, as an industry, we also found that we have only documented most of the industry's history verbally. With the partnership of Erin Mann and Bert Hart, we plan to change that with this project. There is no better way to celebrate our rich history than to pay homage to it. We plan to do so. We also recognize the importance of understanding the past. Many have said, "Understanding the past will allow us to make more informed choices about the future."

After a successful Kickstarter campaign, Lee, David, Erin, Bert, and the help of the industry community plan to write a book, create a documentary of the process and interviews, and create a public website as a .org for the greater community to have forever. We plan to record the interviews in person or via online video conferencing. In addition, we will create content to share via social media sites and other outlets throughout the interviewing process.
